The original production was recorded in 1973. Elizabeth played the role of Gretchen. The English Chamber Orchestra was conducted by Benjamin Britten. Also performing were the Wandsworth School Choir and Aldeburgh Festival Singers. There are two CDs in this item. Inside the cover is a letter to Julian (Royle) from Derek dated 8 Jun 1994. The letter reads: 'Dear Julian, Thank you for Sunday which I found rather too moving at times but which I enjoyed enormously. Here is my contribution to the archive (I have ordered a replacement for myself!). I shall be in touch soon to arrange a return visit - there is so much to hear and see.
