Administrative history
Established by Philip Jones in 1951, the Ensemble consisted of two basic formations: a quintet (two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba) and a ten-piece group, for the larger concert halls in Germany, the USA and Japan. The Ensemble toured extensively and its arrangements remain popular.

This collection mainly consists of programmes of performances that Philip Jones was involved in, most notably the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble. Also included are files of press releases and small files of correspondence, a travel diary, photographs and biographies.

Duplicates have been removed as have been the catalogues of music CDs.
