Historique

Born in Cheshire on 22 November 1937, David Lloyd won the Henry Fielding Scholarship to study at the Royal Manchester College of Music at the age of 17 in 1955. He studied under Albert Hardy, Lucy Pierce and Iso Elinson and was awarded the Hilary Howarth prize for accompaniment in 1958, which was to become his specialism in his professional career. He made his debut as an accompanist with John Heddle Nash, following on with a number of sustained partnerships - notably Nella Wissema, Leon Gossens, Jan Peerce, Elizabeth Harwood and Jack Brymer. Other career higlights include becoming a resident accompanist for the North West region of the B.B.C and appearances at the Wigmore Hall for the Young Artists recital in 1963 and later as accompanist to Nella Wissema and Mary Plazas. His concert career was a varied one, accompanying both song and instrumental ensembles and performing also as a soloist on pianoforte. David also joined the staff of the piano studies department at the Royal Manchester College of Music in 1967 - a post which continued after the merger with the Northern School of Music. David died on 16 February 2010.
